Tinubu Hosts Wike, Ortom, Fayose, Ikpeazu in Aso Rock Closed-Door Meeting

In a significant political development, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday, June 14, 2025, held a closed-door meeting with key figures from the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Among those present were the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike; former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose; former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom; and former Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu.

A source familiar with the meeting, who spoke to First TV Online on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the leaders met with President Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa. However, the purpose and outcome of the high-profile meeting remain undisclosed as of the time of this report.

The gathering has raised speculations about possible political realignments or discussions on national issues, considering the calibre of the personalities involved.

Earlier during the Sallah holiday on June 9, Ayodele Fayose had also visited President Tinubu at his private residence in Lagos. After the visit, Fayose addressed journalists, stating that his meeting with the president was to encourage him and express his support for the administration’s efforts.

Fayose, who governed Ekiti State under the PDP, emphasized his longstanding belief in President Tinubu’s leadership, commending him for the strides being made in stabilizing Nigeria’s economy.

While no official statement has been issued regarding the Saturday meeting, political observers are closely watching the developments, which could signal a new chapter in the relationship between the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and influential opposition leaders.
