Tinubu Confers National Honours on Democracy Champions(FULL LIST)

Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has bestowed national honours on a distinguished group of Nigerians—living and posthumous—in recognition of their contributions to the country’s democratic journey. The ceremony took place on Thursday during his address at the National Assembly in Abuja.

Posthumous Honours
The late champions of democracy honoured include:

President Tinubu further granted posthumous honours to the late Ogoni leader Ken Saro-Wiwa (CON) alongside his fellow activists Saturday Dobee, Nordu Eawo, Daniel Gbooko, Paul Levera, Felix Nuate, Baribor Bera, Barinem Kiobel, and John Kpuine—all receiving the OON. He also announced he will exercise his prerogative of mercy to grant them full pardons, with additional names to follow in consultation with the National Council of State.
