My Victory Is Certain—No King Reigns Forever, Says Suspended Governor Fubara

Suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has declared that his current political challenges are only temporary, stating boldly that “no king lasts forever” and affirming his belief that victory will eventually return to him.

Speaking during a public engagement in Bonny, Fubara addressed his supporters with a tone of resilience and hope, urging them to stay strong despite the political storm.

“Not everyone will like your style, but if you’re convinced that your actions are right and can stand the test of time—say 25 to 30 years—then you’ve truly lived as a man of principle,” he said.

He added, “Power is not eternal. No king lives forever. But what matters most is the legacy you leave behind while you’re in office. I hope those who’ve had their time in power made meaningful impact.”

Fubara also addressed allegations and criticisms leveled against him, saying he cannot pretend to be someone he is not. “I’ve been accused of many things, but I can only be myself. I will not fake who I am just to please anyone,” he stated.

Encouraging his followers to remain hopeful, the embattled governor added, “Sometimes, you must lose in order to win. For me and those who believe in me, I don’t feel I’ve lost anything. It’s only when you attach your identity to worldly things that you start to feel defeated.”

“I know that in the end, victory will return to us—because our foundation is solid,” he concluded.

Governor Fubara was suspended in March following President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State due to a deepening political crisis. The fallout between Fubara and his predecessor, now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, led to the president appointing Ibok-Ete Ibas as Sole Administrator of the state for six months.

Since his suspension, Fubara has met with both President Tinubu and Wike in separate peace efforts. However, tensions within the state’s political landscape remain unresolved, despite growing calls for reconciliation.
