Eid-el-Kabir: Governor Makinde Urges Oyo Residents to Stay Vigilant, Emphasizes Collective Security

As Muslims around the world prepare to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has called on residents of the state to be watchful and security conscious throughout the festivities.

In a message released to commemorate the holy celebration, Governor Makinde urged the Muslim faithful to use the occasion for intensified prayers for peace and progress in Oyo State and Nigeria at large. The governor’s message was conveyed through a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, and made available Thursday night.

Makinde expressed gratitude to the Muslim community in the state for their continuous support, prayers, and contributions to the development of Oyo. He reminded all residents that security is a shared responsibility and encouraged them to remain alert and report any suspicious activity.

“I congratulate my Muslim brothers and sisters in Oyo State and across the world on the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir 2025,” Makinde said. “I urge everyone to be watchful and alert during the festivities. Security is everyone’s responsibility—if you see something, say something, and the government will act.”

The governor’s message is part of a broader appeal for unity and vigilance as Nigerians celebrate one of the most significant Islamic festivals.
