2027: PDP Urges Peter Obi to Return to Party
he Anambra State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has publicly called on the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, to return to the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The appeal was made in a communique released after an enlarged State Executive Committee (SEC) meeting held in Awka on Thursday. The meeting was convened to assess the party’s current standing and strategize for future political engagements.
According to the communique signed by the State Chairman, Hon. Chidi Chidebe, the PDP emphasized that coalitions with ideologically incompatible groups may not yield meaningful outcomes.
“We extend an open invitation to all former and aggrieved members of the PDP in Anambra, especially our esteemed former governor, Mr. Peter Obi, to return home and join the restructured and revitalized PDP,” the statement read.
Chidebe noted that the PDP is willing to welcome all returning members as part of a collective effort to build a better Nigeria.
He also called on Anambra voters to support the party’s candidates—Mr. Jude Ezenwafor and his running mate, Mr. Francis Okeke—in the upcoming elections. Additionally, he urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure a transparent and credible electoral process.
The SEC also unanimously nominated Chief Clems Ezike to fill the vacant position of National Ex-Officio from Anambra State. Chidebe called on the PDP Southeast Zonal Executive, led by Chief Ali Odefa, to recognize and forward the nomination to the party’s national secretariat.
