2027 Elections Will Be a Referendum on APC’s Failures – PDP Declares

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared that the 2027 general elections will serve as a nationwide referendum on what it described as the failures of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government.

Speaking during an interactive session with journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, criticized the APC government for its handling of key national issues, particularly worsening insecurity, economic hardship, and poor governance.

Ologunagba stated that the PDP is positioning itself as a credible alternative, aiming to rescue the country from what he called the APC’s “misguided policies and propaganda.”

“In two years, over 600 Nigerians have lost their lives to insecurity, yet the government appears indifferent. Instead of addressing this crisis, they celebrate defections as if they were policy achievements. That in itself is an indictment,” he said.

He also took a swipe at the federal government’s economic management, questioning the logic behind the $24.5 billion loan request supposedly meant to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal.

“The president sought a $24.5 billion loan to ease the burden of subsidy removal, yet two years later, Nigerians are still waiting to feel any relief. Where is the money? Over 100 million of our people live on less than $2 a day,” Ologunagba queried.

The PDP spokesperson accused the APC of pushing Nigeria towards a one-party state, calling such tendencies dangerous for the country’s democratic future.

“Our democracy must thrive on accountability and multiparty participation. The PDP remains committed to offering the Nigerian people a viable, democratic alternative,” he added.

Ologunagba reaffirmed the PDP’s resolve to challenge the APC’s performance at the polls in 2027, calling on Nigerians to “shine their eyes” and vote for change.
